Performing arts
Ohio's major cities all support local performing arts institutions, and Ohio is an important stop for performing arts tours as well. Some of Ohio's premiere performing arts organizations include:
- The Cleveland Symphony Orchestra, consistently ranked among the top five worldwide
- BalletMet Columbus, which supports the careers of many of the nation's emerging dancers through its Dance Academy, among the five largest professional dance training centers in the country
- Cincinnati Opera, the second-oldest opera company in the nation
Performing arts in Ohio also receive strong support from the state's higher education system through student performance organizations and university-supported arts series bringing worldwide talent to local community performances.
